Enjoy your swimming pool in Gran Canaria
A swimming pool is a wonderful addition
to any property. It can bring immense enjoyment
to friends, family and guests and
can increase the holiday rental potential
dramatically.
It is also a major investment. A small “drop
in” pool can cost €7-10,000 euros but a
large, custom designed pool will be a lot
more expensive.
To get the best from your investment, and
to ensure that your pool is always available
for use, there are a few things to consider:
- Invest in a good quality pool cover – this
not only helps to keep the pool clean, it
also heats the pool during the day and retains
the heat at night.
-Consider heating your pool. This will
extend the use of your pool during the
winter months, a benefit if you are letting
your property. Both solar and electric heating
are possible.
- Introduce a regular cleaning and maintenance
programme. It is easier to maintain
the cleanliness and correct chemical
balances if checked regularly. Pool hygiene
is very important, particularly, once
again, if the property is being rented.
- Ensure that your pool chemicals are stored
safely. They should be clearly marked
and stored in a cabinet, preferably locked
and out of direct sunlight.
- Make sure that a “Pool Safety Code” is
adopted. If you are renting the property,
it is obligatory for signs showing depths
and “No Diving”. Also, it is wise to have “Pool Rules” such as no unaccompanied
children, no glass near the pool, and hours
of use. Remember - a safe pool is a happy
pool.
If you are using the services of a reputable
management company or rental agency,
they should be able to advise on the above
points and, even arrange to take things
if you are not here to do it yourself.
